Something interesting I noted was the Chinese’s willingness to accept outside influence into their culture when in the past they had been generally portrayed as not being receptive. The blending of funerary practices is one I was surprised with. However, this gets explained as they felt exiled from their society and had to begin anew in the U.S.

Since the Chinese have had thousands of years to grow traditions, after reading your post, I wonder if they had learned adaptability or how to “float under the radar” so they could avoid taxes, brutality, corruption, etc. I want to thank you, too, for not saying that anything was “weird” or “strange.” Very non-western of you!
